Chapter 1: Dastan-e Kiyamars va Siyamak (The Story of Kiyamars & Siyamak)
یکم داستان شاهنامه داستان کیومرث است که اول پادشاه جهان بود. او در روزگار پهلوانی زندگی می کرد و شاه همه ی جهان بود. آدم و حیوان زیر فرمانش بود. کیومرث در جهان هیچ دشمنی نداشت جز دیو اهریمن. کیومرث یک فرزند هم داشت که نامش سیامک بود. بنابراین سیامک اول شاهزاده بود. فردوسی می گوید که اگر کیومرث بنیاد درخت باشد پس سیامک شاخه ی آن درخت است. اهریمن بچه داشت که یک دیو بزرگ و سیاه بود. سیامک با او جنگ کرد اما دیو سیاه با چنگالش سیامک را کشت. سیامک درگذشت و سپاه کیومرث شکست خورد. پس از مردن فرزندش کیومرث سوگواری کرد تا این که یک فرشته از خداوند پیام آورد. این پیام گفت که کیومرث باید از اهریمن انتقام بگیرد. کیومرث خودش نرفت به جنگ چون خیلی پیر بود. پیش از مردن سیامک هم فرزندی داشته بود و نامش هوشنگ بود. کیومرث سپاه خود را, که شامل فرستاد آدم ها و حیوانات بود، فرستاد. هوشنگ در سر این لشکر به میدان جنگ رفت و کشنده ی پدرش را شکست داد. شاهزاده دلاور به پدربزرگش برگشت و کیومرث، که دوران پادشاهیش
سی سال بود، تختش را به هوشنگ داد. پس از این، پادشاه ی اول درگذشت.
Translation
The first story of the Shahnameh is the story of Kiyamars who was the first Emperor of the world. He lived in the age of heroes and was king of the whole world. Man and animal were under his command. Kiyamars had no enemy in the world except for the demon Ahriman. Kiyamars also had a son whose name was Siyamak. Therefore, Siyamak was the first prince. Ferdowsi says that if Kiyamars was like the foundation of a tree, then Siyamak was its branches. Ahriman also had a child who was a large black demon. Siyamak warred with him but the black demon killed Siyamak with his claws. Siyamak died and Kiyamars’ army was defeated. After the death of his son, Kiyamars mourned until an angel brought him a message from God. The message said that Kiyamars had to take revenge upon Ahriman. Kiyamars himself did not go to fight as he was very old. Before Siyamak’s death, he had had a son and his name was Hushang. Kiyamars sent his army which included men and animals. Hushang, at the head of this army, went to the field of battle and defeated his father’s killer. The courageous prince returned to his grandfather and Kiyamars, whose reign had lasted thirty years, gave his throne to Hushang. After this, the first Emperor passed away.
